Retirement of a popular Rail worker after 50 years service

Posted by southstaffsrail on December 14, 2012 at 6:30 AM

Today 15th December  sees the retirement of Brian Whistance (think thats correct spelling)  who currently works at Walsall railway station booking office. Brian has worked for the railway for 50 years and has worked on the South Staffs Line as a signaller at Brownhills Box, he has also worked at Cannock Bloxwich and Walsall Signal Boxes.

He also saw the building of Walsall Power Signal Box which closes next august bank holiday when west midland signalling centre takes over from Walsall.

Brians dad also worked as a Guard many years back at Bescot and Walsall. Brian worked at bescot for a long time but when central trains moved the line supervisors to bescot, he moved to Walsall

Brian doesnt access the Internet but we all im sure send him best wishes and enjoyment as he retires.
