Hammerwich Ticket Building Sign In or Register to add photos

When the Station closed back in 1965 British Rail didn't really take much responsibility with its property. Local residents of Hammerwich decided to make use of certain objects which would have been either vandalised or demolished. The wooden out-building in question seems to of been used for issuing tickets on the platform. It may have been used on during busy periods like bank holidays etc. We was told that the coal board moved the shed as a favor,  from the disused station to the back garden of a house on Burntwood Road, Hammerwich. We understand that the windows and paint work are original and only the guttering has been added since it was moved from the station. We estimate the building to be between 1870 - 1920. On Friday 31st January 2014, we met with mark (General Manager of Chasewater Railway) and the owners son-in-law, to see the building and see how we can transport it to CWR.
